Oil and Gas Industry
Our client base includes many customers from the Oil & Gas Industry who use the BGAN terminals to complete various operational needs.
In March 2006, we supplied one of the world's largest fleets of diversified marine support vessels, primarily dedicated to supporting offshore Oil & Gas exploration and development in the US Gulf of Mexico, offshore West Africa, the Far East and Latin America with two BGAN terminals. The terminals were destined to be used predominately in the dry docks, Douala, Cameroon.
One terminal was utilised by the Dry Dock Superintendent, enabling communications with the office in the UK directly from the vessel he was overseeing. Ordering equipment, checking e-mails, and updating the management on the progress of the project from in-situ was fast, efficient and reliable.
The second terminal was placed in an office within the workshop area, enabling staff to access e-mail communications and keep in close contact with the main UK office.
The terminals came into a league of their own when during March Douala was hit by a furious thunder storm. All terrestrial communications within the city went down. Air travel companies were unable to book flights and most companies within the area were adversely affected for days after the storm had subsided.
By utilising the BGAN terminals, personnel working for our customer worked un-interrupted throughout the storm and the aftermath, without losing communications to the office in the UK at any stage.
