Claudio Von Planta

In November of 2007, The Hull Freedom Trail delivered five 4×4 vehicles to aid agencies who work with the child victims of modern day slavery in Freetown Sierra Leone. It was an extraordinary journey which took the 24 Trailblazer team members 3 weeks and covered over 5000 miles including the Sahara Desert and Sub-Saharan Jungle.

Claudio Von Planta, cameraman and documentary film maker, utilised a BGAN Explorer 300 supplied by AST, during the journey which enabled all personnel to keep in contact with home, and also for footage to be uploaded to the Hull Freedom Trail's website on a daily basis.

One of the lead editors of Ewan McGregor’s and Charley Boorman's latest epic motorcycle trip, Julia Frater, is all set to start work editing the Hull Freedom Trail’s documentary which includes footage sent back to London via the BGAN terminal.

Watch Claudio and the Explorer 300 in action in our short video above, kindly filmed for us by Claudio whilst on the trip.
