The dual-mode feature enables customers to use the SAT-550 as a cellular phone where GSM 900 (MHz) service is available.*

The handset can be used to send and receive SMS (Short Message Service) communications of up to 160 characters per message. An easy-to-use data kit enables computers or PDA (Personal Digital Assistant) devices to connect to the Internet and private networks at speeds up to 9.6 kbps using the SAT-550 phone.
